A Complete 4 t/h WNS Steam Boiler System for a Food Factory in Côte d’Ivoire

Food processing in West Africa is growing quickly, and many plants face the same three problems: a narrow choice of fuels, unstable steam supply and installation conditions that leave little room for complex site work. Our customer’s factory needed steam every day for sterilising, cooking and drying — and needed it at a constant pressure and temperature.

Rather than ship a boiler on its own, we designed the complete heat source around the site: a WNS steam boiler as the main unit, with the fuel, pre-heating and distribution equipment it needs to run on local heavy oil.

The WNS horizontal boiler is rated at 4 t/h and 1.25 MPa. Its three-pass, wet-back design is a proven layout that gives a high thermal efficiency and complete combustion of the fuel.

Heavy fuel oil is plentiful in the region, so the system uses a dual-tank arrangement: heavy oil is the main fuel and light oil handles burner ignition and start-up. An electric steam generator pre-heats the heavy oil, so it stays fluid and does not thicken or block the lines when temperatures drop.

An air receiver smooths out pressure fluctuations, and a steam header splits the steam into several lines. Each process — sterilising, cooking, drying — receives steam at a stable pressure and temperature, so product quality is not affected by changes in steam quality.

All auxiliaries were integrated as skids, assembled and inspected in our works in Zhangjiagang and shipped as a complete package. That cut the amount of construction work on site and made installation and commissioning far simpler for an overseas project.

Food production cannot afford an interrupted heat supply. The system carries a full set of safety interlocks, runs steadily with a low failure rate and is simple to maintain — important for overseas plants that run with a small maintenance team.
