Containerised and On Its Way: an ASME WNS Steam Boiler for a Project in the USA

ASME certification sets demanding requirements across the whole chain — design, materials, welding and inspection. A WNS oil/gas fired steam boiler from Wilford has now been loaded and secured in an ocean container and is on its way to the USA, giving the customer a steam solution that meets North American standards.

The WNS steam boiler is a horizontal, internally fired design that accepts a wide range of fuels. A low-NOx combustion option allows it to meet emission limits in different US states.

Its intelligent control system monitors operating parameters in real time and triggers safety interlocks automatically when anything abnormal occurs, so the boiler can run long, continuous production shifts.

The boiler was manufactured to ASME code. Records of non-destructive testing, hydrostatic testing and hot commissioning are kept for every stage, and the full set of documents helps the customer register the special equipment locally.

For container shipping we protect each part separately. The boiler shell is wrapped in film against scratches and moisture; valves, instruments and other accessories are packed in their own wooden crates. Our team positions and lashes every item in the container to use the space fully and keep the cargo safe at sea.

All equipment completed a full performance test before leaving the works, so installation can start as soon as the container is opened at the US port.
